Mide Akerewusi

Mide Akerewusi is Director of Leadership Philanthropy at Pathways to Education, an award winning Canadian charity focused on closing Canada's achievement gap. He was born and raised in London, England and moved to Toronto with his family in 2008.

Mide is passionate about social causes, particularly youth, education and employment issues. As an experienced major gift fundraiser, with a track record spanning almost two decades, Mide enjoys building collaborative and mutually rewarding relationships with Corporations, Foundations and High-Net-Worth individuals. Prior to joining Pathways, Mide held senior fundraising roles at the YMCA of Greater Toronto, Scope (the UK's leading disability charity) the British Red Cross, and the Children's Society.

When he is not working at Pathways, Mide pursues projects that help to strengthen our global community by volunteering his time and expertise in initiatives that facilitate economic and social development. He is a Board member of the Toronto Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and sits on the Board of Save The Mothers. He is also teaches Fundraising at Ryerson University, Toronto.

Mide attained a B.Sc.(Hons) in Business Studies and Sociology from the University of Surrey, and an M.Sc.(Econ) in The Politics of Asia and Africa from the University of London (School of Oriental and African Studies) (SOAS). He also holds a CSR-P designation as a Corporate Social Responsibility Practitioner and is a Certified Dialogue Education Practitioner.
